Star Wars Chess Set Makes Chess A New Game.

Everyone who knew and heard and watched the movie star wars can definitely agree that it is such a great movie and probably one of the best of all time. That’s also the reason why a lot of memorabilia from the said movie is available on the market just like mugs, shirts, the Star Wars Chess Set, posters, action figures, life-size toys and more. But what really grabbed my attention is the Star Wars Chess Set; imagine the fun and awesomeness of playing with a board game of your favorite star wars characters!

A Collector’s Item

This is not your typical pawn-ownage strategic game; the Star Wars Chess Set is a memorabilia. A collector’s prized possession, definitely this is. Although designs may vary depending on the material used, the characters are still the same for every set created. This mind game takes the most popular characters from the entire “Star Wars” saga and replaces the classic white and black pieces with silver and black character pieces that are split up into the “good” and “evil” of the “Star Wars” universe. The box to the set features a picture of Darth Vader and a preview of the pieces with a plastic window opening.

The Characters

The chess set clearly showcases the “good” and “evil” side of the “Star Wars” universe. On the silver “good” side, the pieces are led by the King who is Master Yoda, and the queen is represented by Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi. The two bishops are Luke and Leia Skywalker, Han Solo and Chewy are the knights. Popular droids C3PO and R2D2 are together on one piece to form a rook, and Padame is the other rook (Characters and chess piece representations may vary depending on chess set edition). A whole line of Clone troopers represent the pawns in this chess game.
The black “evil” side of the board is led by the Emperor as the king and Darth Vader as the queen. Jango and Boba Fett are knights, Grievous and his bodyguard are bishops, and Count Dooku and Darth Maul are rooks and the classic storm-troopers are the pawns for the black side.

Like most “Star Wars” items, the Star Wars Chess Set is merely used as a display piece for “Star Wars” fans. If you would rather use your chess set to play, then you can do that as well, because the set comes with the board for you to play on.
